{"id":7759,"date":"2024-01-18T12:01:25","date_gmt":"2024-01-18T11:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wydawnictwo.uew.pl\/monographs\/"},"modified":"2026-08-31T15:10:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T13:10:20","slug":"monographs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wydawnictwo.uew.pl\/en\/for-authors\/monographs\/","title":{"rendered":"Scholarly Monographs, Academic Textbooks and Course Books"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Scholarly Monographs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scholarly monographs accepted for the publishing process must have a minimum length of 6 publication sheets, i.e. approximately 240,000 characters including spaces, and present scholarly issues in a creative and original manner.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A scholarly monograph includes a bibliography and\/or footnotes, undergoes originality analysis using an anti-plagiarism system before publication and receives a positive assessment from two reviewers. Publications are assigned ISBN numbers and a DOI identifier. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Monographs are published in print and\/or electronic form. Electronic publications are prepared in accordance with digital accessibility principles. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Detailed information on the peer review process, editorial standards, publication ethics, the AI\/ML policy and digital accessibility is available in the relevant sections of the website.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of Monographs<\/h3>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Single-authored monograph<\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A thematically coherent scholarly work prepared entirely by one author.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Co-authored monograph<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A thematically coherent scholarly work prepared by several authors, each of whom has the status of a co-author of the publication.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Contributed monograph<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A collective work under the academic editorship of one or more academic editors, focused on a specific research area.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Types of Monographs and Financing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Publishing House publishes in particular:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>scholarly monographs,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>monographs constituting the main achievement in habilitation proceedings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>monographs constituting the main achievement in proceedings for the award of the title of professor,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>jubilee and special-occasion monographs,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>occasional and commemorative monographs related to the University\u2019s activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Occasional and commemorative monographs are not scholarly monographs and are not subject to the peer review procedure.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The principles for financing publications are specified in Order No. 172\/2024 of the Rector of the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following are financed from the budget of the Publishing House:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>monographs constituting the main achievement in habilitation proceedings or in proceedings for the award of the title of professor, as well as jubilee and special-occasion monographs \u2013 up to 10 publication sheets,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>other scholarly monographs \u2013 up to 6 publication sheets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Financing from the Publishing House\u2019s budget covers monographs whose subject matter is related to the research activity of Wroclaw University of Economics and Business and whose authors are included in the N number for a given scientific discipline.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Downloads<\/h3>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Formal Letters<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wydawnictwo.uew.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/01\/pismo-monografia-tytul-naukowy-profesor_2026.docx\">professorial monographs,<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wydawnictwo.uew.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/01\/pismo-monografia-awansowa-habilitacja_2026.docx\">habilitation monographs,<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wydawnictwo.uew.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/01\/pismo-monografia-jubileuszowa_2026.docx\">jubilee and special-occasion monographs,<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wydawnictwo.uew.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/04\/pismo-monografia-naukowa_2026_new.docx\">other monographs.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic Textbooks and Course Books<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Academic Textbook<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An academic textbook is a teaching publication adapted to the curriculum and the needs of the educational process. Its purpose is to present knowledge from a specific field of science systematically, taking account of the current state of research and applicable scholarly terminology. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Academic textbooks published by the Publishing House of Wroclaw University of Economics and Business should include the necessary bibliography and\/or footnotes, are subject to peer review and receive an ISBN and a DOI identifier.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minimum length of an academic textbook is 6 publication sheets.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>A teaching book adapted in its problem scope and method of presenting content to the curriculum requirements set out in the study programme for a given scholarly discipline. An academic textbook must respect the scholarly terminology commonly used in the subject of education corresponding to that discipline, present its latest research achievements (but established ones, not merely fashionable novelties), systematise them in a logical, hierarchical structure of textual, numerical and graphic information, and properly balance the proportions between theory and practice and between encyclopaedic and experimental knowledge. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Niedzielska E., 1993, pp. 17\u201318. 17-18.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Course Book<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A course book is a teaching publication of a narrower scope than a textbook. It is primarily intended to support the delivery of classes and to present training, exercise or instructional materials related to a specific course. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A course book may also serve as instructions for practical laboratory classes.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Course books published by the Publishing House of Wroclaw University of Economics and Business should include the necessary bibliography and\/or footnotes, are subject to peer review and receive an ISBN and a DOI identifier.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minimum length of a course book is 4 publication sheets. Course books of between 4 and 6 publication sheets are published only in the electronic form. <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>It is a teaching work of narrower scope than a textbook. It is focused on presenting teaching, training and test materials within a single course. 17-18.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Publication Rules<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Academic textbooks and course books are assessed by one reviewer.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Electronic publications are prepared in accordance with digital accessibility principles.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Detailed information
